He studied at the École des Beaux Arts Dijon in 1990; received a BA with Honors in Fine Art from Cheltenham Art College in 1991; and a MA in Sculpture from University College London, Slade School of Art in 1993. The directness and simplicity of Isaac’s visceral work suggests that if you look underneath the surface of conventional, contemporary society a world of ugly and uncomfortable truths reveal themselves. His visceral work often stands at the intersection of playful metaphor and intense pessimism. The artist continually redefines his style, moving seamlessly through installation, sculpture, photography, film, painting and drawing. His works can be found in the permanent collections of prominent international importance including the Saatchi Collection, Arts Council Collection and The Science Museum Collection, all London; The Major Art Foundation, Amsterdam; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Verona and Les Abattoirs; and Museum of Contemporary Art, Toulouse. He has shown work both in solo and group exhibitions globally, including at Tate Modern (2001), London; Kyoto National Museum of Art (2001); Reykjavík Art Museum (2002), Iceland; Museum der Moderne, (2005) Salzburg; Serpentine Galleries (2006-2007) London; 53rd Venice Biennale (2009); Glasstress (2013), Venice; Travesia Cuatro (2016) Guadalajara, Mexico; and Palazzo Reale (2016), Milan. In 1999 he was Artist in Residence at Imperial College, London.
